Ninian Steele

Ninian Steele, with his wife and children, came from the north of Ireland, and settled in New London twp, Chester Co. He died in Dec, 1745, leaving a widow, Mary, and 6 children - Robert, Martha, Samuel, Susannah, Ninian and Wm. Son Samuel, lived at what was then and is yet known as Thunder Hill, in New London, twp. He d May, 1760, leaving 11 children - Robert, Ruth, Jane, Samuel, Francis, Joseph, James, Wm, Ninian, Ann and Elizabeth. Of these, Ruth Steele b 1719, m Samuel Futhey in Jan, 1750; Jane m George Campbell, who died March 1812, leaving 8 children, some of whom emigrated to NC. James married Isabella Read, of New London and they lived in West Fallowfield twp. He died in 1807 and his wife in 1814. Their descendants moved to Western Va. Elizabeth Steele and others of the family settled in Northumberland....now Union Co.....at an early day.
