Alexander Underwood

Alexander Underwood, b. in Maryland, i688, settled in Londongrove, Chester .Co., Pa., and was appointed an elder of Londongrove Mtg., 11, 31, 1735-6; but in 1743, removed to York Co., and settled in Warrington twp., where he d. 10, 31, 1767. He had children,Samuel, Thomas, Joseph, William, Benjamin, John, Elihu, Mary, Ann,Jane and Ruth, of whom Benjamin m. i, 7, 1750-1, Susannah Griest, dau.of John, and sister of Willing Griest, of Warrington. They had children,Sarah, Nehemiah, Martha, Enoch, Willing, b. 11, 30, 1761, Misheal, Mary,Benjamin and Aseal. Willing m. 12, 21, 1785, at York Mtg., Sarah Jones, dau. of John and Betty Jones, and they received a certificate from Warrington Mo. Mtg., 2, 12, 1791, to Westland, Washington Co., Pa.,with their children, John, Susanna and Sarah. Afterward they removed to Carmel, Columbiana Co., O.
